Biography

Occupation: Woodman

John's will - Testator divided his real estate (2 cottages) with his two sons William Last and James Last. Testator directed his executors to raise out of his personal estate money sufficient to produce the clear yearly value of £10 to be paid to his wife during her life. And all the residue of his personal estate (subject to his debts) he bequeathed unto his sons John Last, Simon Last and Robert Last, share and share alike. Provided that immediately after his decease the estate given to his 2 sons at aforesaid he directed the estate(?) to be valued, ? it ? appear that the cottages should exceed ? fifth of his personal estate he directed that the surplus to be paid to his 3 sons last mentioned. If it should appear that his said 3 sons last mentioned would take more than 3 fifths then he changed the residue(?) of his personal estate with the payment of his surplus out to his sons Willm Last and James Last, share and share alike.

John was born in 1735. He passed away in 1809.
