OBITUARY. MR. G. LATHAM The death occurred at his residence at Heron's Creek on the 29th March of Mr. George Latham, aged 94 years and 11 months. The late. Mr. Latham was a retired farmer and blacksmith, and had lived at Heron's' Creek for many years. A son of the late Mr. J. L. Latham, he was born in Yorkshire, England, and came to Australia 86 years ago. On April 3, 1873, he was married at Kempsey to Miss Elizabeth Mary Howes, and there were twelve children of the union, all of whom survive with the exception of one son, who died in infancy. The sons are George Henry, James William, Blanche, Stephen, Albert Edward, Alfred, Edgar Ernest and William Leslie, and the daughters, Ellen Maud, Elsie Della Mary, and Lizzie Irene. Mr. Pat Latham, of Port Macquarie, is a cousin of deceased. The funeral was held on Thursday of last week, when the remains were interred in the Church of England portion of Heron's Creek cemetery, the Rev. John Neville conducting the burial service. The funeral arrangements were attended by Mr. F. V. Hayward. |
