Biography

Ida was born in 1861, daughter of Rufus Allen Lathrop and Elizabeth Osborn.

"The marriage of Miss Ellen Elvira Smith, daughter of Mrs. Ida Lathrop Smith, to Mr. Raymond Wills Snyder of Hutchinson will be solemnized tomorrow night at X o'clock at the residence of the bride, 1950 North Market street. The Rev. Mr. Houghton, pastor of the Unlversalist church of Hutchinson, will perform tho ceremony. Miss [  ? ] Smith, a cousin of the bride, will be maid of honor. Wilbur Smith will be best man. Miss Helen Snyder, the bridegroom's sister, will play Mendelssohn's wedding march. The bride will wear a lingerie gown of Raby Irish embroidery trimmed with heavy lace. She will carry a shower bouquet of bride's roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Snyder will wear yellow or gandie with lace trimmings. Miss Mae Smith will wear a white lingerie dress. After the ceremony a five course wedding dinner will be served. The dining room will be decorated in pink and white. Baskets of roses will form the centerpieces for the tables. In the living room, where the ceremony will be performed, the color scheme will be yellow and white. Only relatives of the couple will be present. The couple will leave tomorrow night for a honeymoon trip. After July 25 they will be at home In their pretty new home, 208 Eighth avenue West in Hutchinson. The bride's traveling costume is of navy blue serge with a hat of the same shade. Miss Smith has an excellent soprano voice and is besides very pretty and charming. Mr. Snyder is in the lumber and planing mill business with his father in Hutchinson." (Wichita Beacon, 25 June 1912. page 9).
