Biography

The Crown confirmed a charter upon George Tait, eldest son and heir-apparent of Alexander Tait of Pirn, near Innerleithen, Peeblesshire, and [this] Jean Lauder his spouse, their heirs and legitimate children, in conjunct feu, (failing whom reversion to the heirs of George) of the manor of Pirn in Peebleshire which Alexander resigned, reserving his life-rent.[1] By the 22nd October 1617, Jean's widowed stepmother, Agnes Lauder, is recorded as holding a life-rent out of the lands of Pirn.[2]

George is recorded early in 1632 holding the manor of Pirn, presumably in fee (as per above), as Alexander was still living in Feb 1638/9. [3]
