Biography

Jane was born in 1764. She passed away in 1847.

Jane McLaughlin was born in 1769 in Black's Fort, Augusta County (later Abingdon, Washington County), Virginia, the 5th or 6th of nine known children and the 2nd or 3rd of four daughters of [Laughlin-182|John Laughlin]] and Mary Price.

On 24 February 1784 , when she was in her mid-teens, she married Samuel McGaughey in Pennsylvania. She bore him ten known children, four sons and six daughters:

Hello, do you know the source for Current Last Name as McFerrin? Her FindAGrave record shows nothing like this name. And birth place in York Co, PA?? Again, what source, please? Thanks from Jane

I have removed McFerrin from this record. I believe that in the process of merging duplicate records, a 2nd marriage to William McFerrin was added to this profile, but that is incorrect. There was a different Jane Laughlin who married William McFerrin.

There are several records showing that Jane Laughlin's parents were married in Hanover, PA in 1762, and they did not move into Virginia until probably after the Revolutionary War. That is the source for York County, PA as the birthplace of Jane and her siblings.
