Biography

George Lavender was born on 7 February 1812 in East Barming, Kent, England, the son of John and Ann (Buss) Lavender. He was the brother of John Lavender.

He married Sarah Reed on 9 September 1832 in Westfield Sussex, England and they were the parents of Emily / Emeline Lavender, Charles Lavender, William Lavender Esq., Elizabeth Lavender, Harriet (Lavender) Franklin, Anne (Lavender) Jordan, Alice Lavender, Caroline (Lavender) Browning, Henry Lavender and Sarah Lavender.

He left on the "Westminster" with wife Sarah, Charles, William & Emily on 25 March 1838, leaving from Gravesend England sailing via Ireland to to Sydney, Australia.

George died on 6 December 1885 in his home in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia[1]and is buried in the Rookwood Anglican and General Cemetery, Rookwood, New South Wales, Australia[2]
