Biography

Jacques Lavergne was born in 1706, in Port Royal, Acadia. [1]. His godparents were of high standing in the community, Sieur de Tienville )Lieutenant of a company) and Marguerite Mius, wife of Sieru de le Vendrine. [2] [3]

Jacques (21) married Françoise Pitre (20) (born in Port Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France) on Nov 18, 1727 in St. Jean Baptiste, Annapolis Royal, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia. [3]

They had 11 children between 1728 and 1755. Their known children were:

  1. Pierre Lavergne (Feb 16 1730 – after 1785) .
  2. Marguerite Lavergne (1731 – before 1820) .
  3. Marie Joseph Lavergne (about Oct 19 1734 – Oct 12 1778)
  4. Joseph LAVERGNE b: 1728 in Port Royal, Acadia
  5. Anne LAVERGNE b: 1733 in Port Royal, Acadia
  6. Jean Baptiste LAVERGNE b: 28 Dec 1736 in Port Royal, Acadia c: 29 Dec 1736 in Port Royal, Acadia
  7. Denis LAVERGNE b: 1739 in Port Royal, Acadia
  8. Rose LAVERGNE b: ABT 1743 in Beaubassin, Acadia
  9. Madeleine LAVERGNE b: 1744 in Port Royal, Acadia
  10. Cecile LAVERGNE b: 1749 in Port Royal, Acadia
  11. Osite LAVERGNE b: ABT 1755 in Port Royal, Acadia

Jacques and family were exiled to France in 1758 during the Grand Derangement. He died shortly after the trip, in 1759.

Jacques died on Dec 29, 1759 in Notre Dame, Le Havre, Normandie, France, aged about 53.[3]
