Biography

In 1790, James was born in Pittsylvania, Virginia, the son of David F. and Averila R. (Willis) Law. He was raised in Virginia.

James would marry twice in his life according to his Family Search Profile. He married his first wife, an Unnamed woman, sometime around 1810 when he was about 20 years old. They would have three sons:

Augustine James Law (1811–1851)

David Franklin Law (1818–1894)

Ralph Shelton Law (1820–1862)

James' first wife must have died at some point before 1830, possibly as the result of childbirth complications.

On April 2, 1830, James married Mary Polly Ingram, in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, where they settled and had the following children of their own:

James Franklin Law Jr. (1831–1887)

Avarilla Octavia Dunn (Law) Russell (1832–1907)

Mary Ann Elizabeth (Law) Bedell (1834–after 1880)

Diatha Chester "Lavinia" (Law) Woodliff (1837–1919)

Sevier Clark Law (1843– )

Pauline Nelms (Law) Brewster (1845–1895)

Sarah Alabama (Law) Parker (1848–1932)

James was most likely a Virginia planter to support his family. He would live to be 59 years old, passing away in the spring of 1850. Mary would wed again to James' younger brother, David Shelton Law, have at least one more child, and live until 1880.

James and Mary's bodies are buried together in the Alta Vista Cemetery In Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.

Law-6087 and Law-2331 appear to represent the same person because: I was working along and ran into these matching profiles for James Franklin Law. Not sure why 2331 didn't come up when 6087 was being created, but it didn't. These are clearly the same person. Please merge them. Thank you, Robert Green
