Biography

Sarah Irene Law, daughter of William C. Law and Charlotte E. Reese, was born at the family homestead near Dix in the town of Westmoreland, NY, Feb 16, 1907. With her parents and brother she moved to Bartlett Station in 1909. ^[1] She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1923 and from Albany State College for Teachers, where she was a member of Phi Delta sorority, in 1928. She joined the Westmoreland Grange and the Westmoreland Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star after her marriage received a demit from each organization. The first ten years after her graduation from college she taught Latin and French in the Verona High School and the next two years thereafter in the Camden High School. On Aug 18, 1931, she married Erwin L. Coons at her home in Bartlett.

In 1940, they have two young children at home, husband is a high school math teacher in Poughkeepsie.

In 1950, she is substitute teaching, while her husband Erwin teaches math in high school.^[2]

They lived in Vermont, and then in Silver Springs, Maryland, prior to joining Erwin's mother Maggie, (widowed in 1970), in Florida.

Erwin passed away in 1999, followed by Sally five years later.^[3]. They are buried together, adjacent to his parents Alfred and Margaret, at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.^[4]
