ACCIDENT INQUEST
The Deputy Shire Clerk reported to Tuesday's meeting that the Gilgandra police had advised that an inquest would be held on the 16th June at the Coroner's Court, Sydney, in connection with the regrettable fatal accident which befel Mr. J. Law on 23rd April, when driving a car along the Coonamble East Road. It is understood that Mr. McNamara will be conducting the inquest. The police had asked that he draw Council's attention to the matter. Cr. Meers asked: In what way does that concern Council? Engineer Hunter replied that the accident occurred on a narrow formation, with a maximum width of 17ft. wide, some where near a culvert that had no sign posts. The minimum width at the culvert was 15ft. 9in. He said the police had spoken to him about the matter, and at their request, had put in posts, not at the culvert, but half a chain away.
