Augustine Lawless was a Virginia colonist.

Augustine was born in Goochland, Virginia, on 15 October 1752 to William and Elizabeth Lawless.

Augustine enlisted as a Private in the in the Revolutionary war. He enlisted, "In the line of of the state of Virginia on the Continental establishment," for three years in 1776 under the commander Captain Ragsdale, Major Holman's Battalion in Colonel Dohicke Randall's regiment (12 October 1825 affidavit). He was discharged in Little York, Virginia, where he then re-enlisted in the Artillery Company for another three years, from 1779 to 1781, under the command of Captain Lewis Booker, in the regiment commanded by Colonel Charles Harrison. He marched from Virginia to White Plains, New Jersey, and was attached to a brigade commanded by General Henry Knox, where he remained until his discharge in Morristown, New Jersey. He was in the Battle of Brandywine (11 September 1777) and Monmouth Courthouse (28 June 1778), and in a skirmish at King's Bridge (3 July 1781). By the time he was discharged, he had achieved the rank of Corporal. His pension began 15 Oct 1825 and was $8.00 a month. His will is in Book 1. p. 85, Russell Co. KY. The war ended when General Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia on 19 October 1781.

He married Sarah Sally "Molly" Dillon in Cumberland County, Virginia on 14 Nov 1781.

Their children: an infant that died in 1782, buried in Virginia; Jesse (1783-1852); Presley (1784-1840); Susanna (1785-1859); Edward (1786-1843); Reuben (1788-1872); Benjamin (1789-1843);William (1790-1852); John 1792-1874); James (1794-1853); and Mary.

Augustine and Sarah settled in Russell County before 1800.

He died on 19 October, 1832 in Russell County, Kentucky. He was buried in the Lawless Cemetery on his own farm in Jamestown, Russell County, Kentucky.
