On the 1 August 1850, William was 3 years old. He lived in Harrington, Washington, Maine with his parents and siblings. His father, Baptist, 38, was a farm labourer born in Ireland. William's mother Harriet was 42. His siblings were Susanna 15, Clarisa 11, Ellen M 9, Eunice 6, and George P 1. Mother and children were all born in Maine. The family's surname was spelt 'LON'. [1]
On the 14 July 1860, William was still living in Harrington. His father Baptist, 46, was a farmer born in Ireland. William's mother, Harriet 53, and siblings, Ellen M 18, Eunice 15, and George A 11, were all born in Maine. Baptist's real estate was valued at 300 and his personal estate was 100. His daughter Susannah 23, lived next door with her husband Wm W Fickett 23. Wm was a seaman. They had two children Ernest C 1, and Andrew 7 months. They lived with Joseph Ficket 26, another seaman, his wife Mary 21, and their daughter Diana 1. All these people were born in Maine. [2]
Working Life
On the 3 June 1870, William, 22, and his brother George A, were both seamen. The family were still living in the town of Harrington. William's father Baptist was 52 and a farmer. His real estate was valued at 255 and his personal estate was 160. He was born in Ireland. William's mother Harriet 60, and siblings, Eunice 25 and George A 21, were all born in Maine. Eunice was now a school teacher. [3]
Marriage
On the 28 Jun 1870, William married Susan Marian BRADBURY] in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, United States. [4][5] The couple's intent to marry was recorded in Brewer, Maine, on the 11 May 1870 and the certficate was issued in Brewer on the 27 Jun 1870. William was 22 and Susan was 19. Their residence was Brewer. [6]
Last Years
William passed away on the 7 Mar 1876. He was buried in the Rock Maple Cemetery, Harrington, Washington County, Maine, United States. His age was 28 to 29 years.[7] Some family trees give the place of death as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
