John Winslow Lawrence Jr. was born on January 22, 1938 in Farmington, New Hampshire, the son of John and Alice Lawrence.
"Jack" married Barbara Ann Cullen. They had two children; Stephanie and Michael. They lived in Gainesville, Florida.
He joined the United States service, serving with the Major ADV TEAM 91, HQ, MACV ADVISORS, MACV Army of the United States . His military tour began on November 21, 1970.
Captain John Winslow Lawrence was Killed in Action in Bình Dương, Vietnam on September 16, 1971when his troop was ambushed. Captain Winslow was awarded two silver stars, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and several others.
He is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Wall of Faces, Panel 2W, Line 17.
The Route 153 bridge over the Cocheco River in Farmington, New Hampshire was renamed after Major Lawrence.
