Harriette Lawrence is a part of US Black heritage.

Harriette was born about 1830, Putnam County, Georgia. Her parents name is unknown, but most likely the are on the same Slave Schedule in 1860.

She was born on the Allen Lawrence Plantation, Putnam, Georgia, owned by Allen Lawrence. She was a slave till the age of about 35. There is records of her being there in 1850 and 1860 Slave Schedules. She gave birth, raised five children before they became free and had raised two as free persons after the Civil War.

1850 census (Farm 1) Allen was in District 70, Putnam County, Georgia, United States.[1]


Harriett (maiden name unknown) married about 1852 to Warren Lawrence there in Putnam County, Georgia.

They had the following children:

  • Paralee Lawrence b:1853, GA
  • Sam Lawrence b:1857, GA
  • James Lawrence b:1861, GA
  • Nias Lawrence b:1863, GA
  • Nicey Lawrence b:1866, GA

1870 census Harriette (age 40), Keeping House, was in Eatonton, Putnam, Georgia.[3]Enumerated: Harriette Lawrence age 40, Henry Lawrence age 18 (Faam Laborer, Paralee Lawrence age 17 (Farm Laborer), Sam Lawrence age 13 (Farm Laborer), James Lawrence age 9, Nias Lawrence age 7, Nicey Lawrence age 4 and Dicey Lawrence age 2.

She passed away after 1870, Putnam County, Georgia. Her burial is unknown.
