Biography

Sarah Lawrence (1723 - 1781) was born on May 26, 1723 in Northumberland County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Edward Lawrence and Saray Jane (Tullos) Lawrence.

Sarah married Peter Priest (1700 - 1781) circa 1736/40 in Virginia. Sarah (Lawrence) and Peter Priest had possibly nine children:

  • 1. Thomas, who settled in Fauquier Co., VA and married Miss Stark of Culpepper Co.
  • 2. John, who also lived in Fauquier Co., and married Elizabeth Brown.
  • 3. George (1748-1829, who married Frances Catlett, and died at Sideview, Kentucky.
  • 4. Peter, who lived in Green Co., Kentucky.
  • 5. William, who went to W. VA and two daughters.
  • 6. Elizabeth
  • 7. Sarah who married a Murray
  • 8. Possibly a Nancy who married Edward Lawrence
  • 9. Richard

Sarah died circa 1781 in Fauquier County, Virginia.

Edward Larrance left a will in Fauquier Co. VA (dated 1783, probated 1786). He named 8 children and one grandson (Rodham Tullos Larrance). The children were: Jean Wicks/Weeks, Susannah Catlett, Sarah Priest, Winefred Luttrell, John Larrance, Edward Larrance, Peter Larrance and Richard Larrance.
