He married Eliza Gillett on 13 Nov 1852 in Ightham, Kent, England, United Kingdom.

On 16 Nov 1873 the family left London for Australia on the "Southern Belle". The voyage took 4 months. They arrived in Rockhampton on 6 March 1874. ^[1] The ship struck a gale and was disabled in Keppel Bay. ^[2]

After they arrived in Australia, he took up an agricultural selection at Stewart's Creek, Stanwell. ^[3]

Charles Lawrence died on 11 Jan 1898 in Stanwell, Queensland of Heart disease: "Insufficiency of Mitral Valve" and was buried in the Stanwell Cemetery, Stanwell, Queensland. ^{[4] [5] [6] [7]}
