Charles Lawrence was born on 14 Oct 1829 in Wrotham, Kent, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of John Lawrence and Charlotte (Swaisland) Lawrence.

He married Eliza Gillett on 13 Nov 1852 in Ightham, Kent, England, United Kingdom.

On 16 Nov 1873 the family left London for Australia on the "Southern Belle". The voyage took 4 months. They arrived in Rockhampton on 6 March 1874. [1] The ship struck a gale and was disabled in Keppel Bay. [2]

After they arrived in Australia, he took up an agricultural selection at Stewart's Creek, Stanwell. [3]

Charles Lawrence died on 11 Jan 1898 in Stanwell, Queensland of Heart disease: "Insufficiency of Mitral Valve" and was buried in the Stanwell Cemetery, Stanwell, Queensland. [4] [5] [6] [7]
