I am a scientist, journalist and author who has been researching my family's history for close to 40 years now. I've lived through the pain of discarding 700 years of family "history" -- thanks to Horatio G. Somerby -- so try to be careful (and skeptical) these days.
That doesn't mean I don't still screw up from time to time.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Dave or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Dave Lawrence:
Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 111 markers, haplogroup N-L708, FTDNA kit #35001
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
Dave Lawrence:
Family Tree DNA mtDNA Test Full Sequence, haplogroup L2a1f1, FTDNA kit #35001
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Dave:
I have a brickwall with a ROBINSON/BROWN marriage. I see you have both in your tree. I found you because of a DNA connection I have with a descendent of Jesse Phillips and Elizabeth LNU but possibly Brown.
My brickwall relative is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Robinson-44396. Her parents are a bit of a mystery to me. Catherine Brown however, has recently been tied as a DNA relative because she had children by various different men and we each line has a descendent that connects to her. I do not have any requests at this time, but I do think that your Brown research my coordinate with mine.
The woman, Elizabeth Brown Phillips has a descendent that matches the same DNA segment as a descendent of Catherine's ABRAMS marriage, so that is why I am focusing on BROWN.
Love Your reply to the negative on OUR grampa... Thank you, Cuz' Carole I am a non believer in the dna test thing but yes have spent the $169 to have mine done but it told me nothing new except living Cuz' like you. How can I find yours and compare to what they sent me? I am a total dunce reading it.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.
It's time for your next stop on your guided tour. This week, we'd like to introduce you to our community and show you some ways to get more involved and stay up to date on everything that's going on: How to Join in the Community.
You've been here for three weeks now! We hope you're profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.
Welcome to the New Netherland Settlers Project. Please visit our FAQ and feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you're looking for your ancestors that might already be on Wikitree, check out our Immigrants and Progenitors page, though it is not quite complete and does not reflect all of the profiles that already exist.
You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.
Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.
Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.
