Peter was born in 1830 to Hugh Lawson and Agnes Wighton and christened on 12 March 1830 in Kinnaird, Perthshire, Scotland, United Kingdom.^[1]

In 1851 Peter was living at Manse Bothy, St Martins. he was a Farm servant.^[2][3]

Peter Lawson married Mary Keir 18 Jul 1851 in Kinfauns, Perth, Scotland. ^[4]

In 1861 Peter was living at Back of Law, Kinnoull with his wife and five children. He was a Stone Quarrier. ^[5][6]
