James was born in 1870. He was the son of Peter Lawson and Mary Keir.
In 1871 James was living at East Cott Cottage, Perth with his parents and siblings.[1]
In 1881 James was living at Oak Cottage, Kinnoull with his parents and siblings. He was a scholar.[2]
