Bertha, daughter of Henry and Ann Elizabeth Lawson.
She became a Teacher in Wellington in the late 1890's.
In 1901 she married to Farmer, Steve Harris at Picton and they settled at Endeavour Inlet, Queen Charlotte Sound.
Bertha had 3 children during her marriage, 2 daughters and a son.
In 1918, Bertha was widowed when Steve died at No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton on Thames, England.
She returned to Wellington the next year and moved back to Marlborough for a time during the 1920's. Bertha never remarried after Steve's death.
Bertha went back to Wellington and then to the Waikato and lastly Te Awamutu, Cambridge where she died in 1948 aged 75.
Bertha Harris is buried at Te Awamutu Cemetery, Waipa.
