Jacob was born on April 8, 1889 at Cordell in Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of Samuel Lawson and [[Hicks-7545 |Mary Etta ( Hicks ) Lawson. He married Connie Belle Hicks on January 22, 1914 in Scott County. He passed away from acute appendicitis with abscess and general peritonitis on May 22, 1947 at the Harriman Hospital in Harriman, Roane County, Tennessee.
