Biography

George Edgar Lax was born on 7 February 1896 in Queensland, Australia. He was the son of Ephraim Lax and Margaret McComb.[1]

Birth registered in Ipswich Queensland, Australia.

Education was with Kelvin Grove Boy's School in Class 6, year 1910; when he won second prize for manliness and public speaking.

Member of the Band of Hope in 1905 and 1906

Occupied as a clerk in 1922; from 1926 to 1959 possibly longer; Secretary of Laurens Queensland Union of Commercial Traveller's offices.

Sport- a footballer whose results of his game between Toowoomba Juniors and West Brisbane 2nd grade was published in the newspapers.

From, on the Brisbane fields; with Valley District and Northern district cricket teams; George went on to managing teams; or making committee decisions. This sport became a prominent part of his life. Brisbane Newspapers reported his many achievements; including those with The Australian Board of Control, International Cricket.

1936- 1961 he was with Queensland Cricket Association.

He married Ethel Hancox in 1917 in Queensland.[2]

Married in Windsor Road Baptist Church on 20 October 1917 to Ethel May Hancox Lax and they had three known children named:- Gladys Evelyn Lax, Joyce Gwendoline Lax and Robert George Lax.

He passed away in 1963 in Brisbane, Queensland.[3]

Death occurred on 1 July 1963 in Queensland, Australia. Mother's maiden name on death record is McCoombe. He was cremated at Mt. Thompson; when that was the only Crematorium in Brisbane; his ashes were later transferred to Albany Creek, Brisbane.
