Biography

Alexander was born in 1824 to Thomas Lay and Elizabeth Lockhart. ^[1]He married Jane Borthwick and they had 7 children.

He was living in Wyse's Corner, Halifax, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1871 with his wife and 7 children. He was 46 years old, a farmer, and part of the Weslyan M religion. ^[2]

In 1881, according to the Canada Census he was living with his wife and 3 children in district 10 in Wyse's Corner, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was W Methodist, 56 years old and a Taylor.^[3]

In 1891 he was in district 34 of Halifax in the subdistrict of Meagher's Grant. He was the head of the house, Methodist and 66 years old. ^[4]

He died on 3 May 1893 and was buried at the Meagher's Grant Cemetery in Meagher's Grant, Nova Scotia, Canada. ^[1]
