Elizabeth (Laymon) Compton was the daughter of Joseph Layman Joseph Layman & Anna Anna Layman. Elizabeth was born about 1763. She passed away in 1848.

On 3 April, 1845, Elizabeth Laymon Compton, age 81, asked for a pension as the widow of Jeremiah H. Compton. (She was a sister of Jacob Layman and Anna (Layman) Jones). Elizabeth made oath that she married Jeremiah Compton in Botetourt County, Virginia, about 1784, and that her husband died 19 June, 1844. Daniel Layman (Elizabeth's brother) said he remembered date of Compton marriage because he was married in 1791, twelve years after the Compton marriage. Daniel Laymon also made oath that he remember (sic) seeing his elder brother (Jacob) and said Jeremiah H. Compton returning from the army at the close of the Revolution. He also stated that Elizabeth Compton was his sister. Daniel Laymon who made this oath was a "Clergyman". On 13 August 1845, Ann Laymon Jones made oath that she was present when said Comptons were married in Botetourt County, Virginia, and also saw her brother Jacob Laymon (also a Revolutionary soldier), return from the Revolution with Jeremiah H. Compton.
