Biography

Arthur was born to Ezra Stevens Layton and Margaret Newcomb May 18, 1853 at Great Village. He married Elizabeth Catharine Bentley July 14, 1875 at Great Village. Arthur is the father of Burpee Layton married to Bernice Newcomb. Arthur was a partner with Mr. Bentley in a Provision Dealer firm named Bentley and Layton for 45 years. Arthur died at age 69 at his residence 326 Gottingen Street, Halifax, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia and is buried at Mahon Cemetery at Great Village NS (Arthur died after a lengthy illness of 19 weeks) [1]
