Biography

He was 'of Rawdon, Co. York'. He became a considerable landowner in Rawdon. He was appointed Yeoman Keeper of the Jewel House by Charles I in 1641 just before the start of the Civil War in 1642. Later he became Master of the Jewel Office. In 1645 he was imprisoned by the Parliamentarians and fined for being a Royalist landowner,
