Biography

Plummer Lazear may be the son of John and Matilda Lazear and the brother of Thomas Benton Lazear. Records for John have yet to be found but their children were not completely raised by them.

He was born April 21, 1837 and is the cousin of Jerome B Lazear and Susan J Lazear and the grandson of Joseph and Elizabeth (Plummer) Lazear. He grew up in Brooke County, Virginia (West Virginia after 1863) along with seven second cousins; Robert M Lazear, Jesse Lazear, Salina C Lazear, Hugh Lazear, Priscilla J Lazear, Elias K Lazear, Hanson W Lazear and George M Lazear.^[1][2]

Plummer married Martha Ellen Gooch October 18, 1880^[3] and they made their home in Brooke County, West Virginia until his death September 12, 1895. Together they had two children, Elizabeth L 'Lizzie' Lazear and Sallie H Lazear.^[4][5] He is buried in Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom, West Virginia.^[6][7]
