Research Notes

Rather than putting historic names (or current names) of locations in parentheses in location fields, just use the name that was in use at the time of the event. Explain newer names in the Bio if you wish to clarify.

Marcoux-100: I changed the date and place of birth (1767, L'Assomption, Qc). Several children Leblanc were baptized at L'Assomption in 1767 at return of exile. But not this Jean Baptiste, who was born, most likely, in Baie des Chaleurs where his parents are said to be living in 1767:

6 February 1767:

"Marie Josèphe Daigre, née à La Rivière-aux-Canards au mois de mai mil sept cent vingt huit, mariée au dit lieu au mois de juin mil sept cent quarante sept à Joseph Le Blanc fils de Bernard Le Blanc et de Marie Bourg demeurant à la Baie des Chaleurs" [3]

10 February 1767:

"From the marriage of Olivier DAIGRE and Francoise GRANGER, married at the Mines, St. Charles Parish in 1723, were born at Riviere des Canards, St. Joseph Parish: ... Marie Josephe - born March 1728, married same place in June 1747 to Joseph LeBLANC, son of Bernard and Marie BOURG living at the Bay of Château (?) (Chaleurs)"[4]

Children's Marriages into one family

There are at least five marriages, in St-Joseph-de-Carleton, of children of François Cyr and Marie Rose Boudrault to children of Jean Baptiste Leblanc dit Bourquet and Marguerite Cormier. The children of these marriages would be genetically more like half siblings rather than first cousins:

  1. On 23 Feb 1813 François Benjamin Cyr married Margueritte Leblanc. [5]
  2. On 13 Jan 1818 Joseph Leblanc, married Marie Rose Cyr. [6]
  3. On 8 Jan 1822 Jean Cyr married Elizabeth Leblanc. [7]
  4. The next entry in the register, on the same day, 8 Jan 1822, is for Joseph Cyr and Séraphine Lablanc. [8]
  5. The next page of the register has the wedding, a week later, on 15 Jan 1822, of Raymond David Leblanc and Olivette Cyr. [9]
