At the time of the 1900 census, Joseph LeDoux was 51 years old and his wife Ellen Vincent LeDoux was 41 years old. Their children ranged in ages between 21 years old and 5 years old: Olivier, Olevah, Martildy, Alexson, Joseph M, Tilly, Valrie, Maggie M, and Francois. [1]
Frank LeDoux married Mary Lyons on July 28, 1915 in Louisiana. [2]
From family accounts, Mary Lyons was raised in the LeDoux household – being abandoned by her parents into their care in her early years. Family members recall her saying that her parents dropped her off and drove away in a wagon one day and she does not remember seeing them again. [3]
Between the 1920, 1930 and 1940 census information we have a list of children born to Frank and Mary LeDoux. Their birth years range from 1917 to 1936: Bernice (John Bernice), Roy, Joseph Narcise (J. N.), Clayton, Elaine, Marvin, and Betty Lou. In all three census’ the location remained the same: Police Jury Ward 4, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.
