In the 1851 England census for St. Martin's in the Fields, Anthony is living with just his father. [1]. Both were born in Middlesex county.

By profession, Anthony John LeJeune, was a music professor. He is enumerated in the London 1871 census with his wife, Elizabeth Mahony, and two young sons.

By the 1881 London census, [2] Anthony John LeJeune is listed as a married, 50 years old music professor but his wife is not enumerated in this census. Three young sons are 11 years old Anthony LeJeune, 10 years old John LeJeune and 8 years old Joseph LeJeune are listed as being born in Midddlesex county and as students in school. The household also consisted of a young couple (William and Sarah Stonestreet) who worked as domestics in the home.

Research Notes on Death

Probate listed him as "Anthony John Le Jeune", late of Rydal, Lorne Park, Bournemouth, county of Southampton, Professor of Music,....died on the 24th of September, 1901.[3]. The probate listed his place of death as "while riding on the train". Anthony John Lejeune death record, listed in an Civil Registration Index as taken place in 1901 in Poole, Dorset.[4][5]

Where is Bessie?

It appears that Bessie, Anthony's wife, lived separately from her husband since, at least, 1877. It's possible that she was the owner of the home on Belsize Square but her own income was relying on her husband's income, according to the 1881 census. It is not known if they legally divorced, especially if they were Catholics. There appears to be many press releases about their relationship troubles which were complicated.

Bessie Mahony LeJuene appears to be, however, well and still living in the 1911 census.
