Obituary
General sadness fell upon the hearts of our people yesterday morning, as the news spread that Mr. Prosper LeSeure had suddenly expired at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Shedd, Franklin Street, yesterday at 9:30 o'clock. He was among our oldest, best known and most highly esteemed citizens. He and his wife have been on a visit from their California home for some weeks, and were soon to return.
Prosper LeSeure, son of Peter and Ann LeSeure, was born in Nancy, France, in 1820, and was 77 years old. In 1830 his parents and their family came to the United States, stopping first in Philadelphia, then coming to Cincinnati, and later to Indiana, where they settled on a farm and where Mr. LeSeure's boyhood days were spent. Later the family moved to Illinois and in 1845, Mr. LeSeure came to Danville and shortly after engaged in business. He was later joined in business by his brother Victor and under the firm name of V. & P. LeSeure they did a large general store business where the Yeomans and Shedd hardware store now stands.
About 5 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. LeSeure moved to Los Angeles, CA, where they have been living. The were visiting their children here and had just recently returned from a visit with Dr. Oscar LeSeure, of Detroit, MI.
