Biography

Mary Reed Lea was born February 6, 1820.[1]

Mary married first, Thomas J. Gordon, in Amite County, Mississippi. July 11, 1837.[2] It is uncertain what happened to Thomas Gordon. Unreferenced sources say he died in 1839.

Mary resided in Amite, Mississippi, in 1850. It appears from the census information that her first husband, Thomas Gordon, had already died or moved away.[3]

Mary married second, Samuel Lee, April 13, 1843, in Amite County, Mississippi.[4]

By the 1850 census, Mary was found living in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, with Samuel and two children.[5] She resided here the 1860 census as well, living with Samuel and three children.[6]

In 1870, Mary Lee was living in Pike, Mississippi, with Samuel and Charles G. (son?).[7]

Mary (Lea) Lee passed away September 14,1884, in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, USA. She is buried in the Samuel Lee Cemetery there.[8]
