Biography

Daughter of John Allen Leach and Mary Catherine Reaugh. Amelia was the first to be baptized at the Conway Springs (Kansas) Presbyterian Church.

Wife of William Farr Kennedy. Married 1903. ^[1] The marriage ended before 1917. Some time between 1910 and 1917, according to information received from Andrea Vissotzky, a great-granddaughter of John Allen Leach, Amelia's sister Fanny had had enough of the abuse Amelia was taking from her husband. Fanny tied him up with a rope and took her sister away.

No record of William Farr Kennedy has been found after the 1910 Census. It is curious that his middle name is the same as the surname of Amelia's second husband. This information (what the initial F. stands for) comes from the Find a Grave entry for her daughter Margaret.

Wife of Robert Henry Farr. Married before 1917. No marriage record has been found. They were married either in Kansas or in New Mexico. Robert's WWI Draft Registration card of 1917 lists Amelia as his wife. ^[2]

Amelia is not found with her mother and siblings in the 1900 Census.

In 1910 Amelia was married with two little girls. Her husband was a lumber man dealing in hardwood. 1910 Census, Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas

In 1920 she was living in Mora County, New Mexico. Ines A. L. Farr, age 45, b. IL, wife of Henrey Farr, residing 1920 Census Mora Co. NM with her daus Louise and Margaret Kennedy, b. KS, aged 14 and 12 ^[4]

Amelia L. Farr, age 54 married aged 26 yrs at 1st marriage b. IL, with husband Robert H. Farr, b. TX aged 57 married 1st aged 25 yrs, 1930 Census, Solano, Harding, NM ^[5]

1940 Census: Robert H Tarr age 67 b TX; Amelia L Tarr age 64 b IL Mary L Angelo dau age 36 b KS; Arthur A Kersh, son in law, age 31 b Ark; Margarete Kersh dau age 31 b KS; Arthur Lee Kersh grandson age 9 b Colorado; Pearl R Lawhon lodger age 35 b TX. ^[6]

In 1950 she is found as Emily Farr age 74, b Illinois, residing in Harding, New Mexico with husband R H Farr, age 77, a truck driver in the livestock hauling industry. R H Farr was b 1873 in Texas.^[7]
