It is said that Thomas' ancestors were landholders in Nottinghamshire and Bucks, having been previously settled in Wiltshire. John Lecock or Lacock, was implicated in the Stuart rising 1746, and was forced to leave the country. He fled to Madeira where he established a wine business.

Mr.Lecock m. Alice Butler, one of the Butlers of Ormonde, and had a son, who m. Charlotte, daughter of Colonel Gladstanes, andniece of Sir Albert Gladstanes, A.D.C. to the Duke of Clarence, afterwards King William: IV, and had an only child, Thomas Murdock Leacock, of Westbrook, Ryde, Isle of Wight, J.P. for the Co. of Hants, Eng.

Thomas married Agnes Mary, daughter of John Young, of Westridge, Isle of Wight, and sister of Rev. W. Young, D.C.L., rector of Xewehurch, Isle of Wight . Agnes died at Genoa, Italy, 1st January, 1886.

Thomas Murdock Leacock had an estate at Oak Hill on the Isle of Wight, that he purchased after returning from Madeira where his family had made a fortune out of plantations and Leacock's Madeira wine, founded in 1760.

had 11 children including Stephen Butler Leacock b 30 December 1869

Pursuant to the Statute 22nd and 23rd Vie., cap. 35, intituled " An Act to farther amend the Law of Property, and to relieve'Trustees." • NOTICE is hereby given, that all creditors and other persons having any claims or demands against the estate of Thomas Murdoch Leacock, late of Oakhill, in the parish of Saint Helen's, Isle of Wight, in the county of Southampton, Esq., deceased (who died on the 28th day of July, 18*8, and whose will was proved in the Principal Registry of the Probate Division of Her Majesty's High Court of Justice, on the Hth day of November, 1888, by Agnes Charlotte Leacock, one of the executors thereinnamed), are hereby required to send the particulars, in writing, of their claims or demands.
