He passed away in 1817 and was buried in Brereton cum Smethwick, Cheshire, England.[11]

“In the name of god amen I William Lea of the parish of Brereton and County of Chester farmer being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish and declare this my last Will and testament in manner following First I will and order that all my just debts funeral and other expenses and the proving of this my will be all paid Then I give and bequeath unto my Daughters Mary and Elizabeth Lea and unto my Grandson William Lea son of my daughter Martha Lea deceased the three beds bedsteads and all bedding to be equally divided amongst them, then I give and bequeath unto my daughters Mary Lea and my daughter Elizabeth Lea and my daughter Ann Webb and my son Joseph Lea and my son John Lea and my grandson William Lea son of my daughters Martha Lea deceased, the whole of my property to be equally divided amongst them only my daughter Mary Lea to have the interest of my said property during natural life and after her death to be equally divided amongst them but provided any of them will give her good security for the interest of their share they may have it as soon as my affairs are settled but provided and of my said children die before my daughter Mary Lea then their share to be divided amongst their children after my said daughters Mary Lea death and further of any of the said parties before to give her good security for the interest from their share then shall my said property be put in some sufficient persons hand during my daughter Mary Leas and then after her death to be equaly divided amongst them but provided that my daughters Mary and Elizabeth Lea and my grandson William Lea son of my said daughter Martha Lea deceased can have the farm to do the. Any good then I will that my said property (provided it gose no worse) remain in the same state as at preasant during my said daughter Mary’s life and at her deceased to be equaly divided amongst them and I William Lea testator here to do nominate and constitute and appoint my son John Lea and my son in law Thomas Webb my executors to this my last Will and testament and do hereby revoke annul and make voice all former Will and testaments by me at any time heretofore made in witness whereof I have at my hand and seal this third day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen William Lea his mark
