Daily Picayune, April 3, 1898, page 3, column 5 Mrs. Peter McGoey On Friday evening were consigned to the tomb the remains of a venerable old lady, who had reached the great age of 90 years, just one-half of which were spent in this city. Mrs. Peter McGoey came of sturdy Irish stock, having been born in County Longford. With her husband, who preceded her to the grave many years ago, she emigrated to this country and settled in this city. She raised a large family of children - five of whom survive - two daughters, Mrs. John McCabe and Mrs. William Miller, and three sons, Henry, Charles, and Peter McGoey - together with a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. McGoey has been feeble for many years and her life gently wafted away, the end coming Thursday night at 10 o'clock. Her funeral took place from her late residence No. 17xx Lafayette street. The funeral services were conducted by Rev Father Medre, C. M., at St. Joseph's Church and the interment took place in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
