Joseph Leclerc was born on 11 Feb 1753 and baptized the following day in Sainte-Trinité parish of Contrecœur, Canada, Nouvelle-France. His parents were Joseph Leclere and Marie Anne Gerbault.[1]

Joseph Leclaire dit Lafrenais, aged 24 on the record, married Marie Louise Levitre, aged 20 on the record, daughter of the late Joseph Levitre and Marie Anne Potvin, on 1 Jun 1778 in Immaculée-Conception de Saint-Ours, Province de Québec.[2] Marie Louise passed away on 27 Mar 1807 in Saint-Ours.
