1) born 1830 TN, per census in 1850, age 20, living w/sister Lucinda

2) born 1830 TN, per census in 1850, age 20, living w/brother Thomas

3) born 1832 TN, per census in 1860, age 28, w/husband

4) born 1831 TN, per census in 1880, age 49, w/husband

Death: cannot locate after 1880

Last known location: Hancock Co. MS

Also, cannot locate husband or children after 1880

Martha Ann Ledbetter's 1880 census says both her parents born in VA.

Martha appears to be duplicated on 1850 census. Once with Lucinda (assumed sister), and another with Thomas (assumed brother).

Lucinda Catherine Ledbetter-Robison (assumed sister), b. abt 1832 TN.

Lucinda did not live to 1880, so her parents birthplace is unknown.

Thomas C Ledbetter (assumed brother), b. abt 1820 in either TN or AL.

Thomas' 1880 census says both parents were born in Scotland.

Thomas has a brother, James J Ledbetter, confirmed by 1880 census.

James J Ledbetter (brother of Thomas), b. 1829 in either TN or AL.

James' 1880 census says both parents were born in Scotland.

A hypothesis by family researchers, Dick Ledbetter and Ken Haughton, suggests parents are William Henry Ledbetter (b. abt 1803), and Mary Shockley.

Their research with DNA analysis shows this group of Ledbetters in DNA halotype R1b. The DNA halotypes R1b and I1a, separates all US Ledbetters into 2 broad categories

1850 census of James J Ledbetter, living with the THORN family.

Even though James living with THORN family in 1850, he was NOT a minor.

James was one of 3 young men with the THORN family; clerk, grocer, farmer.
