PARENTAGE
Parents: unknown
Mary P Ledbetter's 1880 census shows both of her parents born in TN.
A hypothesis by family researchers, Dick Ledbetter and Ken Haughton, suggests parents are William Henry Ledbetter (b. abt 1803), and Mary Shockley.
Their research with DNA analysis shows this group of Ledbetters in DNA halotype R1b. The DNA halotypes R1b and I1a, separates all US Ledbetters into 2 broad categories
Other family researchers, suggest a possible THORN connection, based on the 1850 census of a James J Ledbetter, living with the THORN family.
Even though James was living with THORN family in 1850, he was NOT a minor.
James was one of 3 young men with the THORN family; clerk, grocer, farmer.
