John Ervin Ledford was born on October 31, 1854 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States, son of Josiah Joseph Ledford (1823–1908) and Alse G. Ball (1829–1912).[1]

John married Mary Lucinda Parham (born on February 29, 1856 in Buncombe, North Carolina). Their daughter was Marietta Ledford (1904–1984).

John died on June 5, 1940 in Asheville, Buncombe County, aged 85. He was buried in Sluder Cemetery, Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina.[1]
