William was born in 1860 to Ellis Ledford and Fannie Unknown. He married Minerva Dixon in 1891. They had 4 children together: William Lonzo Ledford, Gordon Ellis Ledford, Clemmie Vertis Ledford, and Fannie May Bowen.
