Some researchers disagree that John is the son of William, and believe that he is of some other relation. I find no proof of this and believe he is the last child born to William (and possibly his 2nd wife) Agnes(s) Mitchell, after their arrival in Augusta Co.

He is listed in the Augusta Parish Vestry Book, page 260, in 1759.
They stated they were from Ireland as they proved their Oaths of Importation on 28 Feb 1739 in Orange Co., VA (a part later became Augusta Co., VA). LSP[1]
