There are many entries for the Name James Ludwell Lee, most of which are, I suspect fraught with errors, large and small. It appears that there were at least a Sr., Jr., and III. See Lee-8998, Lee-9573, Lee-23504, Lee-10502, Lee-5554, Lee-5555, Lee-11943, Lee-16387. I would also bet that some of the plain James Lee and James L. Lee entries, especially from VA, NC and GA are possible duplicates or ancestors/descendants. Sarah Ludwell (Ludwell-6), James' (Lee-11946) mother, appears to have been the original source of the middle name, so Lee-11946 is probably the original James Ludwell Lee.
