Biography

Frank was born in Aurora, Missouri on July 5, 1905.[1]He was the son of Joseph Lee and Luella Ricord.[2]

In 1910, young 'Frankie' was living near Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was five years old (not three), living with his parents and five brothers:[3]

  1. Charles Frederick
  2. Alvin Raymond
  3. Orie Finiae
  4. William M.
  5. James Leonard

By 1920, the family had moved west to Colton, in San Bernardino County, California. His father had 'gold fever' and was mining in the Mohave Desert.[4]

Frank met and fell in love with Bernice Bradley in 1928. He was almost 24 and she was 17. Their first child was born one year later. (family history by great grandaughter Christina Mort).

Frank and Bernice Lee

Frank's favorite brother was Orie and he pretty much followed in Orie's footsteps, becoming a trucker of produce. He had his own watermelon trucks, just like his brother, and supplied watermelons to the Piggly Wiggly Markets of the greater Los Angeles area. The only difference between the two were that Frank's watermelon trucks were red and black and Orie's were orange and black.[5]

By 1940, Frank owned his own house in Long Beach, California, and he had three daughters;[6]

  1. Cleo
  2. Joan (pronounced Joanne)
  3. Joyce
