William arrived in Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) in 1826 on the ship "John Barry" He was a Sergeant in the Royal New South Wales Veterans Regiment 3rd company. All the veterans in this company had served in the Peninsular Wars and/or Waterloo. William drowned in the River Jordan in the district of Brighton
