John Lee was born on 29 Jul 1897 in St Helens, and christened on 4 Aug 1897 at St Anne's in Sutton (Catholic). He was the son of Joseph Lee and Mary Ann (Highcock) Lee. His godmother was Elizabeth Highcock. (Highcock was either recorded in the original or mistranscribed as Alcock for both the mother's and godmother's surnames, so possibly his godmother was Elizabeth Alcock instead).
John's brother Henry was born on 20 Feb 1899 in St Helens; he was christened on 4 Mar 1899 at St Anne's in Sutton. Henry died in about 1900, aged 1.
His brother Thomas was born on 2 Dec 1900 in St Helens, and christened on 22 Dec 1900 at St Anne's in Sutton.
By March 31st 1901, the family were boarding at 18 Abbotsfield Road, Sutton, in the household of John and Catherine Roberts. John's father was employed as a miner, as was John Roberts.
Another brother Henry was born on 4 Jan 1903 in St Helens, and christened on 7 Feb 1903 at St Anne's in Sutton.
John's brother Joseph was born on 8 Apr 1908 in St Helens, and christened on 2 May 1908 at St Anne's in Sutton.
By April 2nd 1911, the family were in their own household in St Helens. John's father was still a coal miner.
John married Mary Burrows in 1928 at St Nicholas' Church in Sutton (Anglican).
John's father died in 1938 in St Helens, aged 64. He was buried on 24 Mar 1938 at St Nicholas' Church in Sutton. His address at the time was 3 Grace Street.
John's mother died in 1953 in St Helens, aged 78; she was buried on 6 May 1953 at St Nicholas' Church in Sutton. Her address at the time was 167 Hoghton Road.
John died in 1970 in St Helens, and was cremated on 28 May 1970 at St Helens Crematorium.
