Biography
Gem was born in 1932. She was the daughter of Walter Lee and Iris Lynch.
Gem became a nurse. She was 20 years old when she married 23-year-old Farmer Kenneth (Ken) James Turner in Pietersburg, Transvaal on 18 April 1953. [1]

They had three sons:
- James Walter Denis Turner
- Ian Robert Steven Turner
- Charles Kenneth Harvey Turner
Ken and Gem managed farming properties in the St George's Valley area near Tzaneen. Later they worked in Tzaneen. I spent many of my school holidays on Gem Farm with Gem's parents. She inherited the farm after her parent's death.
In 1984 Grace Ellen Mary (Lee) Turner, ID No 320824 0023 00 8 was a Bookkeeper living in Tzaneen.
My wife and I visited her in about 1998 and, in the discussion of the "Family Tree" photographs she had mounted on the wall, I discovered there were more questions than answers. I have been pursuing those answers ever since!
Gem passed away in 2016 in Petersburg.[2] [3]
