Eli was born in 1787 to Israel and Sarah (Law) Lee. He would marry Mindwell Armstrong in 1807 and together they would first move to New York and then would become one of the first families to migrate to the Hartland area of Michigan. They would have the following children:
Maria Lee (1810-1819)
Lyman Lee (1815-1887)
Adon F. Lee (1820-1857)
Elisha H. Lee (1824-1868)
Lewis Lee (1828-1840)
Romenzo Lee (1832-1851)
Once established in Michigan, Eli and Mindwell became founding members of the Baptist Church of Highland.
Eli would pass away in 1874 at 87 years of age.
