Arch L. Lee, 69, a retired millwright and a longtime resident of Springfield, died at noon Tuesday at his home after a long illness. He was a member of Carpenters Local 978. Survivors include his wife, Opal D.; two sons, Don, Rogersville, and Jimmie, Rogersville; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Brooks, 1918 North Grant; a brother, John, Raytown; five sisters, Mrs. Opal Pickering, Springfield; Mrs. Ruth Davis and Mrs. Betty Scheinost, both of Raytown; Mrs. Dorothy Chorister, Jefferson City, and Mrs. Blanche DiGraci, St. Louis; and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn North Chapel with the Rev. W. E. Dowell officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. The family will be in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Opal D. Lee, 89, Springfield, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 1997 in Maranatha Manor, Springfield. Mrs. Lee, a homemaker, was born Aug. 29, 1907, in Halltown, Mo., the daughter of John W. and Effie M. Bethel Hart. She was united in marriage Nov. 2, 1935, in Marshfield, Mo., to Arch L. Lee, who preceded her in death in 1978. Opal was a member of High Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, working around the house and taking care of her many flowers. She will always be remembered for her dry sense of humor and always enjoying being with and cooking for her family. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Junior Brooks, Springfield, Mo.; Two sons and their wives, Jimmie and Jeri Lee and Don and Marilyn Lee, all of Rogersville, Mo.; a brother, Clifford "Cotton" Hart, Fort Scott, Kan.; a sister, Ruby Mason, Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 2:p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, in Ayre-Goodwin-Lee, a Heritage Funeral Home at Rivermonte, with the Rev. A.R. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family requested that memorial donations be made to High Street Baptist Church Building Fund and/or the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
