Betty Jo Scheinost, 74, Raytown, MO, passed away Monday, April 11, 2005, at Hidden Lake Care Center. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday, April 15 at Floral Hills Chapel. Burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. She was born January 21, 1931, in Springfield, MO, to Roland Columbus and Cordelia Lee. She graduated from high school in 1949 in Waynesville, MO, and completed one year of college. She met Floyd E. Scheinost in 1950 in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, and they were married October 12, 1952, at Hamlin Baptist Church in Springfield. She was a volunteer at Research Medical Center, member of Ararat Needle Guild. She was a painter and was a member of several art associations in Raytown and Jackson Co. She taught adult education at the Raytown School district and also was a tailor/dressmaker. She had a stroke on May 19, 1999, and moved to Hidden Lake Care Center. She was preceded in death by brothers Arch Lee, Verde Lee, and John Lee, and sisters Opal Pickering, Dorothy Harp-Chronister, Blanche Ellen DiGraci. Survivors include her children Rebecca A. Pycior (Gary), Philip F. Scheinost (Cindy), Andrew L. Scheinost; sister Ruth Davis, Raytown, MO; grandchildren Erin L. Pycior, Christopher S. Pycior, Emily C. Pycior. Contributions in lieu of flowers to Blue Ridge Trinity Lutheran Building Fund.
Floyd Emil Louis Scheinost, 85, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away on April 20, 2013. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24 from 5pm to 7pm at Floral Hills, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, KCMO 64133, with funeral Thursday, April 25 at 12pm. Burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery. Floyd is preceded in death by wife Betty Jo, brothers Earl F. & Paul C. He is survived by children Rebecca (Gary) Pycior of Lee's Summit, Phillip (Cindy) Scheinost of Overland Park, & Andrew Scheinost of Lee's Summit; grandchildren Erin (Eric) Dodson, Christopher (Nia) Pycior, & Emily Pycior. Floyd served in the Army 1946-1953. He was active in Scouting with both sons through Eagle Scouts & Mic O Say. He was a member of IBEW Local Union #124 & retired in 1989. He was a Shriner & enjoyed helping in the children's hospitals. He & Betty enjoyed many years with the Kansas City Turners. They were also active members & enjoyed their church family at Blue Ridge Trinity Lutheran for nearly 60 years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity in his name.
